It boasts a wide spectrum of industries, including environmental technology, packaging technology, life sciences, space and aviation, mechanical engineering, nanotechnology, mobility technology and nutrition, to name but a few. International high tech companies work side by side with well-established medium-sized companies. Many of these are global leaders in their markets but are still relatively unknown in the public eye. Others are major international companies such as Nycomed, Nestlé/Maggi, Alcan, Georg Fischer, SIG, Siemens, Strellson Menswear, EADS, MTU, Dornier and ZF that have chosen to set up business around the lake.
The service sector is particularly strongly developed. The region of Lake Constance is one of the key locations in Europe for engineers, for example. But the number of designers, architects and IT companies is also growing. Further key industries are tourism, banking and insurance, healthcare, management consulting, education, advertising and PR.
